Appointment Information

Appointments: Please phone the practice for an appointment.Online appointments are available through KP Surgery website, Hot Doc and our website. Consultations are by appointment only. Please advise reception who your preferred GP is.

Longer Consultations: Longer consultations are available please advise reception staff if you require extra time.

Standard Consultations: Are by appointment only. A standard appointment is 15 minutes. If you think you may need extra time, please ask the receptionist.

Some reasons for extra time:

  • Consultations for more than one medical issue or complex medical problems

  • Superannuation/employment medicals

  • Psychological or counselling matters

  • Consultations for more than one family member

  • Taxi, truck & bus licences

  • Health assessments & GP Management Plans

  • All medicals will be charged accordingly on the day.Our staff will make every effort to ensure that the waiting time is kept to a minimum however delays are sometimes unavoidable.

Practice Services: Family Planning, ECG heart checks, ABI’s, Immunisations, Skin Cancer Clinic, Men’s health, Women’s health, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Care Plans.

Emergency / Urgent Consultations: Please contact the surgery for appropriate assistance.

Cancelled Appointments: Please notify the surgery within 24 hrs to cancel or reschedule appointments or a non-cancellation fee equal to the consult fee will be charged.

Interpreter Services: Patients who require communication assistance are asked to let reception staff know. An interpreter needs to be organised at least two days before your appointment.

Contact Details: Please advise us of any changes to your contact details. To ensure your privacy we require the correct phone numbers etc. in order to contact you and also an emergency contact number.

Telephoning your Doctor:
If you need to contact your doctor, please phone during normal consulting hours. A message will be taken if the doctor concerned is with a patient. In the event of an emergency, all calls will initially be handled by one of the Registered Nurses.

Prescriptions & Referrals:
In the interest of better health care, an appointment is required for repeat prescriptions or referrals.

Test & X-ray results:
If you have been referred for a test, please ensure a further follow-up appointment has been made to discuss results with your doctor. Test results will not be given over the telephone.

Pap Smears:
It is recommended that Pap smears are repeated every two years unless there have been previous abnormalities. Our surgery will attempt to send a reminder when your next Pap smear is due.

Mammograms:
Information is available at the surgery. Enquire at the reception desk.

Reminders/Recalls:
Our practice is committed to preventative healthcare. You have the option of registering to receive healthcare reminders that are appropriate to your care. This practice is involved with National & State external registers for preventative health screening. If you do not wish to be reminded please let the reception or nursing staff know.

Receiving & Returning Phone Calls: Doctors cannot accept calls during consultation but a message can be forwarded to the Doctor to return the call if required.

Mobile Phone Numbers:
Please notify us of your mobile phone number. This is to ensure your privacy if we need to contact you.

Emergency Information
After Hours:
If you require medical attention(after hours, Weekends or Public Holidays) please phone 08 8293 2994 for assistance. These calls will be diverted to our locum service. Alternatively, if an emergency, ring 000.
